Any party involved in a Florida Domestic relations case involving minor children will be required to take a parenting class before a final judgment is entered. Many of our clients want to know more details about the class such as what information is included and how it will help them and their children. The Florida legislature established this requirement with the goal of helping parents minimize the emotional impact of divorce on their children. Research shows that children who are able to maintain a relationship with both parents will be more successful in adjusting to their parents’ divorce.
There are many options for how a parent can take the parenting class. Your Orange County Family Law Attorney can provide you with the names of organizations which have classes several times each month. If attending a class in person seems overwhelming to you, there are also options for taking the class on-line. The class will cover subjects such as the impact of divorce on parents and children, the legal process, and information on how parents can work together more effectively.
Once the course has been completed, you will receive a certificate which your Family Law Attorney will file with the Court. If you have questions about the parenting class or any other issue regarding your divorce, child custody or paternity action, please call Family Law of Orlando. We will schedule an initial consultation with Attorney Wade P. Luther. You can reach us by email or by calling (407) 835-9900.
